Maserati established in Bologna on December 1, 1914, as Italian manufacturer of racing cars and sports cars and now company's headquarters in Modena and its emblem is a trident. It is a luxury car manufacturer sometimes competing with large German mass-producers including Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and directly with Aston Martin and Jaguar. Carlo Maserati was built the first Maserati car and production started in 1926. He designed a single engine for a velocipede.

Since 1993, it has been owned by the Italian car giant Fiat S.p.A. and was initially associated with it inside the Fiat Group. Including Alfa Romeo, it has become part of the sports car group more recently. Citroen took control of Maserati in 1968. The car maker showed improvement again in 1975 when Benelli bought into Maserati. In 1993, Fiat Auto Group purchased 100% of Maserati shares and only sell the shares to Ferrari in 1997.
