Jeep is the oldest off-road vehicle, an automobile marque with registered trademark of Chrysler. Jeeps were also used by the U.S. Postal Service in the 20th century for mail services, a four-wheel drive vehicle of one-half- to one-and-one-half-ton capacity for reconnaissance or other army duty.

Katherine Hillyer's article was published nationally on February 20, 1941 which included a picture of the vehicle with the caption and Willys-Overland Inc. was later awarded the sole privilege of owning the name "Jeep" as registered trademark. The term was also in military slang use to mean something untried, or untested. The United Nations has adopted this all-purpose machine as the standard field car for its relief agencies and the Jeep is also a favorite among American sportsmen. In true Hollywood fashion it was "love at first sight" and, like the typical happy ending, it lasts for life.
